What does a California boy do growing up with a lot of sunshine, surf, and a stone’s throw away from Hollywood? He moves to Milan to become a photographer, but of course!
Before embarking on a photography career, Charlie was an editor for an online art and fashion photography magazine for over a decade. During those formative years, he developed an interest in becoming a photographer inspired by the artists featured in the quarterly issue. He decided to make the transition to photography, oddly enough, while enrolled in a chef school learning Italian cuisine. Instead of concentrating on cooking during his culinary internship at an upscale seafood restaurant in Florence, he redirected his attention to photographing the fiery chef and the chaotic kitchen scene. All is not lost, though; he did learn how to prepare a delicious plate of risotto.
With these two polar opposite worlds, Charlie combines California’s over-the-top attitude with Italy’s restrained classic visual aesthetics.
After over half a decade in Milan focusing on fashion portraiture, Charlie was ready to explore other parts of the world. His next stop, the Americas!
